Wednesday Island Explained, New Trailer Wows with Patented Kookiness
We shared some teaser-ish marketing from the local Netflix PR team not so long ago about an initiative simply titled "Wednesday Island" where we posited the idea it would be an experiential 'pop up' likely hosted on Cockatoo Island in Sydney, celebrating the upcoming S2 of the streaming platform's hit Wednesday series. We were correct.
Now, ahead of more information on just what that is, which will include cast members setting foot on Downunder soil, Netflix has also released a most robust trailer for the upcoming split season, which promises to be as explosive, kooky and creepy as the first, if not more so.
Now, do the Thing...
Chief among many of the takeaways from the above is the great Steve Buscemi lending his own flair to the production in what looks like a great character for him, but on the whole is that Wednesday has reluctantly discovered even more popularity which threatens to overshadow her own personal journey that includes a vision of the death of her bestie, Enid.
Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega), returns to prowl the Gothic halls of Nevermore Academy, where fresh foes and woes await. This season, Wednesday must navigate family, friends and old adversaries, propelling her into another year of delightfully dark and kooky mayhem. Armed with her signature razor-sharp wit and deadpan charm, Wednesday is also plunged into a new bone-chilling supernatural mystery.
Wednesday Island is an event taking place on August 16, with registration and ticketing information to come (stay tuned as we have it). It promises to plunge punters into the "wonderfully weird world of Wednesday through chilling performances, in-world activations, and unearthly experiences to transport them to Nevermore and beyond". Which sounds like it might be the best and most modern 'haunted house' experience ever.
We have a carousel of production stills you can peruse below as you count down the days till Part One of Season Two drops this August 6, with Part Two premiering from September 3.
