Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is Starting to Look Like the Best Anime Release of the Year

Trigger's work on the first season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was exemplary and showcased just how diverse the studio can be on the anime and stylisation of art front, especially if you looked at one of the studio's other big hits, Delicious in Dungeon, as a comparison. And while David's story and the standalone nature of the first season left us wondering what could come next, the slow teasers for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 have kept us on edge thanks to very little information.

Now, however, after the second official teaser trailer has dropped, we have something of an idea about what's next. But before that, why not check out both teaser trailers for yourself...

What we actually know from an official perspective is:

• This is a new standalone story separate to that of David and Lucy in the first outing
• The story revolves mostly around four known entities -- a washed up former Edgrunner going through Chrome withdrawals, a Nomad with revenge on the mind who will find secrets even he wasn't expecting to find from big corp, a young "cinephile" who wants to bring truth back to the fore by documenting 'life' in Night City and a former Corp Tower resident now-turned-Maelstrom gang member
• Most of the original creative team returns to the fore, with Bartosz Stzybor and Masahiko Otsuka running lead on story

Both teasers give us a sense of the character Weak's onset cyberpsychosis (our own conjecture) that will play a large part in allowing the chaos he causes to tie all of the other key characters' stories together, all of which are likely to be wholly documented by Roman, the young so-called "cinephile". Most of all, though, is this is looking far more kinetic and even more brutal than Edgerunners 1 and we, honestly, can't wait.

"Fall 2026" means we should be seeing this on Netflix in Australia in Spring, though no solid date has been revealed as yet. In the meantime while we wait on such news, take a squiz at some fresh, official stills in our carousel below!
