Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow Gameplay Deep-Dive

Certain types of games are just perfect for the jump to VR and the stealth experience is one of them...

Whether you love, hate or are indifferent to VR, the platform is here to stay. With tetherless advances, lighter gear and more powerful processing driving the way, all types of games and genres have found their way on to, and into VR, but not everything works. However, some genres, even old-school ones, feel almost like a natural fit -- stealth, for ours, chief among them. Assassin's Creed Nexus VR was a good AAA example of how stealth in a vertical world could work and where climbing and scaling and hiding were chief traversal and approach options, even if that game didn't quite make the mark Ubisoft wanted, it still worked well in the VR setup.

Thief, however, feels about as perfect a fit as any game of the stealth genre going around and is getting its own AAA release by way of THief VR: Legacy of the Shadow. And recently, the team let loose a premier of what's in store from a gameplay perspective while also opening up more on the overall approach and just where Legacy fits in the Thief universe.

Sneakily watch below (be warned, it's a long one):

Playing the role of "Magpie", the game is a fresh entry in the series and built specifically for the VR platform. Inside, you'll pick pockets and locks with full tactile responses, creating potentially one of the most immersive stealth gaming experiences going around.

Currently Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow is set to land on Steam VRMeta Quest and PlayStation VR2 later this year.
