The Blood of Dawnwalker Developer, Rebel Wolves, Celebrates One Year of Teasing

A year ago, new Polish studio, Rebel Wolves, unveiled its debut title -- The Blood of Dawnwalker. Set in a fictional kingdom from the 14th century nestled in the Carpathian Mountains, the game is an action-RPG spin on vampire mythology and lore where the player-character, Coen, is known as a "dawnwalker" meaning he is a human by day, but a vampire by night, and definitely is not Wesley Snipes.

Rebel Wolves is a studio made up mostly of former CD Projekt RED designers with studio head and The Blood of Dawnwalker game director, Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, the studio's co-founder. He also worked as a game director on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt which is pertinent to this game as the vampire narrative that unfolds throughout the base game, as well as the central plot to its final expansion, Blood and Wine, could be considered some of the best ever written, regardless of platform.

However, while fictional in its setting, Dawnwalker takes more cues from Eastern European folklore with an historical tilt, vampires and cryptids aside, closer to its real-world period.

Recently the studio dropped a gameplay breakdown you can check out ahead of its even more recent celebration video, highlighting its year in the... sun(?).

Interestingly, the celebration video below, while earmarked as happening during a "Full Wolf Moon" (aka a January full moon), more pointedly makes note of the game's audio. And while we're audience to an orchestral performance highlighting that the game will be pulling from the types of music being produced in the era in which the game is set, it's important to note just how big this project is. 

Slated for release in 2026 and published by Bandai Namco, this new action-RPG might just be one to look out for given the pedigree of key studio personell alongside its familiar-yet-unique setting.
