These 12 Minutes of the Sinking City 2 Highlight Survival Horror, Puzzles, Detective Work and Lovecraftian Terror
In a fast-track delivery of what you can expect of The Sinking City 2 from developer Frogwares, the studio has given us glimpse at the various types of gameplay on offer, as well as the overall dread and terror that await in its stunningly crafted sequel.
Exposition from interesting characters, gruesome monsters, arcane magic, item-management and more come to the fore in what is shaping up to be one of our most anticipated games of 2026. And having played through the short demo, we can confidently say this is Frogwares leaping out at the industry as a refined creative powerhouse with the chops to match the bigger studios out there.
Take a look at the 12-minute gameplay showcase below:
The new trailer features never-before-seen gameplay captured in the Arkham Fish Market, once a bustling waterfront hub alive with merchants, dockworkers, fishermen, and travelers. Today, it stands as a decaying monument to the evacuated city. Rusting ships sit abandoned in the harbor, empty storefronts line the flooded halls, and the workshops that once supported the local fleets have long since fallen silent. Eldritch monstrosities now stalk the market's walkways, while only the most unhinged survivors remain, as the flood seeps further into their minds.
While elements of the above clearly highlight that Fogwares looked to a handful of other titles and genres for inspiration, as fans of this studio we can say that even that influence has been carefully folded into its own sensibilities around design, and with all of the cult, Lovecraftian and detective-level stuff also on display here, we're very excited to see where this goes.
Add to that the sheer level of art on display from a visuals perspective and we might just have a cult classic on our hands.
In addition to the above, Frogwares is promising a NG+ and HDR patch dropping at launch and not long after, respectively, the former will also carry over all perk points, perks and items you have upon completion, to the start of the new save.
Check out fresh screens below. The Sinking City 2 launches for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S this August 18.
