Subnautica 2's Early Access 'Road Map' Revealed Via Dev Vlog

From the seahorse's mouth - here's what to expect as Subnautica 2 makes its way to Early Access...

As was the case with the original (and still brilliant) Subnautica, developer Unknown Worlds has doubled down on its hotly-anticipated sequel, revealed in October last year, coming first to Steam Early Access ahead of a full release where early adopters will needs to swim against the currents of spoilers, placeholders and incomplete sections of the game. But hey, if it worked last time, why not just dive into the same model again and submerge yourself in the process, right?

A new dev vlog from the studio has given us a short glimpse at the development future of the game, which includes an expanded team with new faces alongside many of the OG crew(s), a bigger game-world, more ambition, more danger, more survival and, most importantly, more discovery and exploration. Take a gander:

It will quickly become no secret to repeat visitors here that this game-universe is right up there for us, with this news writer in particular spending hundreds of hours in both the OG and Subnautica: Below Zero. Which will leave many, myself included, pondering whether to hold fast and wait for the final product to avoid spoilers and enjoy the game, feature and asset complete, or to be a supporter early and help the studio navigate its new water world?

And, in fact, if you didn't bother to watch the embedded video above Unknown Worlds wants you to chime in and help with development, so we'll likely join the Early Access chorus, but even if you want to wait there's still a place for discussion for you via the games official Discord.

Currently listed as hitting EA in 2025, Subnautica 2 will flood your life some time soon. Stay tuned for more as we have it!
