"The World Needs to Feel Like a World and Less Like a Diorama Made for a Player" New Subnautica 2 Dev Blog Goes Deep on World-Building
As a games nerd, you just love this stuff. And the team at Unknown Worlds love sharing just about... everything. In fact, during development of the first Subnautica you could actually see in real-time the team's milestone and work-flow Trello board, which was all levels of nerdy and intermittently cool (game dev takes a loooooong time).
Overnight the studio dropped a new "Dev Vlog" which has heaps of cool stuff in it and, believe us when we tell you, you'll have a new appreciation for both rocks and some hardcore mod dude named Tor after the video finishes.
So, what are you waiting for... watch already!
A few things as die-hard Subnautica fans stood out for us in this video. One being that it's being made using Unreal when all other iterations of the game have been made on Unity -- something we thought we didn't know. But also that the studio's OG efforts around, Natural Selection, are a part of the Subnautica game universe. Either both of those were actually known bits of info and we weren't paying attention and need to up our fandom, or these were cool info drops. At this point, we'll take either because it's all cool.
Thank you Tor and the rest of the UW team. We can't wait for more updates like this!
