Stranded Downunder - Death Stranding 2 Set to Feature a Highly Detailed Australia

Check it out, boy - Mexico, Australia, Mexico, Australia!

A host of new details surrounding Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, the highly anticipated sequel to Hideo Kojima's ultimate walking simulator, have surfaced via the PlayStation Blog with one nugget standig out particularly to us:

Spanning a journey that takes delivery protagonist, Sam, between Mexico and Australia, the game will feature highly detailed representations of all of its locales, with Australia in particular presenting as a unique space replete with local fauna and our trademark barrenness

In Mexico, Sam gets caught up in an incident that eventually brings him to Australia. There he must take on the herculean task of traversing across the continent to, once again, re-connect a fractured society.

The game depicts the diverse Australian nature and wildlife in vivid detail, including an animal sanctuary with lush vegetation that is home to animals like kangaroos, koalas and wallabies. There’s also an option to switch to an ‘aerial camera’ that captures Sam from an elevated bird’s-eye view, which allows you to take in the vastness of the environment as you slowly make your way across the terrain.

The good news for those of us who find it easy to get lost in Kojima's involved and chaotic plots is the first game won't have been necessary to have been played with a "Previously On" recap option available to get up to speed, and immediately from the main menu. In addition, there's a fresh day and night cycle, new traversal options, new equipment and therefore an expanded option for strategic thinking as well as dealing with all new dynamic systems at play. Specifically with an environment that is forever out to not just impeded you, but given the Final Destination chance, kill you.

The full blog post also skirts around unique playstyles affecting Sam's stats which opens up variying ways to approach the game for players of all types (and replayability for the Kojima tragics out there), alongside an overhauled audioscape, new combat elements and much more.
