New Trailer and Launch Details for SUDA 51 and SWERY's Hotel Barcelona

Not content with creating something in all other genres, iconic Japanese game designer, SUDA 51, alongside fellow visionary, SWERY, felt it was time to have a crack at side-scrolling action, of the roguelite kind, with Hotel Barcelona the end result. Sporting irreverent humour that is both tongue-in-cheek and on-the-nose, all in one, this new spin on the popular genre mashup also goes one further with a handful of unique features, an incredible soundtrack from Yuji "TECHNOuchi" Takenouchi of Demon's Souls and Dark Souls fame and an all round fantastic aesthetic.

Part action, part roguelite, all fever dream. Wake up in a twisted hotel taken over by serial killers and become Justine, a fresh-faced federal marshal with a primeval monster possessing her brain. With trippy anime-style visuals designed by the artists behind genre-defying Japanese hits like Chainsaw Man, Persona and Final Fantasy VII Remake, try to escape this luxury gateway turned psychedelic nightmare and defeat the hotel's bloodthirsty new management -- tough as nails brutes, psychopaths and criminals from all over America. Suffice to say, you won't be alive by checkout. 

As with any roguelite or like, death in Hotel Barcelona is simply one part of your progression system, and upon each you'll gain new insight, abilities and more to take on this crazy and seemingly recurring nightmare. The key will be to see how the super team handle the endgame and just how deep it all goes, as SUDA 51 is notoriously lite-on when it comes to gameplay depth, though this chosen genre is rife with it, so all eyes are on the final product, which comes to all platforms September 26.

In addition to the game launch, a standalone soundtrack will also release through Kid Katana Records featuring TECHNOuchi tracks as well as more from other collaborative artists the team has pulled on board.
