Metal Eden is Sci Fi Anime Come-to-Life as a First-Person Shooter - Release Date Deets

The genres sort of don't mix, but together they look and feel like the oldest of buddies...

If you weren't across Metal Eden, that's okay. It crept up on us, too. It's easy to overlook titles that sound like they're just ticking boxes, but there's something about this FPS that feels like it might have some serious potential.

But, like, what is it?

According to publishers Deep Silver and Plaion, Metal Eden is an "adrenalin-fueled sci fi FPS that explores a world where humanity's consciousness has transcended the flesh, now residing within robots".

Okay, poignant. Anything else?

It's also a game that takes its visual cues from "mecha anime" classics like MacrossNeon Genesis Evangelion and Patlabor, to be diverse, which is giving us some pretty good vibes, to be honest. More importantly, however, is that embedded within its philosophically existential narrative lives what looks like a very, very cool shooter. Big powers, fast movement, stunning visuals... are we looking at a sleeper hit for 2025?

Take a squiz at the game's most recent release date trailer:

So, not too far away -- September 2 for PCPS5 and Xbox Series X. Keep an eye out as we close in on that date as we're chasing up more content opps around what has us definitely piqued in terms of "give us more!".

Oh, and have a look at the screenshot carousel below to see why we're fairly jazzed on this one.
