Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days Demo Now Live on Steam
At the beginning of the October we let you know that a demo for Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days would be rocking Steam later that same month, and true to its promise and teasingly aligned alongside Steam’s own annual Halloween sales activation, developer PikPok has indeed dropped the game’s demo, which features gameplay for four pairs of survivors, each with different traits and abilities as well as personalities and narrative arcs.
For those who missed our original post, hit the link above or have a squiz at the same demo announcement trailer we originally featured up next:
Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days’ debut playable demo blends survival horror exploration and shelter management mechanics. Set out from your shelter and search for weapons, food, and building materials in dangerous locations throughout Walton. Creep past undead inhabitants, carefully avoiding detection before attempting to return home safely. Or tempt fate and go on the offensive against enemies, utilising melee weapons and firearms to thin the hoard.
Expand and improve your shelter with scavenged materials for a temporary reprieve from the impending apocalypse. Recruit new survivors encountered in the city, each with their own positive and negative traits, but consider carefully who to trust and bring into the fold as the tension ratchets higher with each passing day. As time advances, your survivors will discover different leads to uncover additional locations, fellow survivors, and maybe even ways to escape the city.
We’ve had a quick bash at the demo and it is frightening and glorious all at once, and features a stack of gameplay to trounce through. The game itself is scheduled for release in 2025, which is rapidly approaching so might not be as far away as you think. We’ll keep you updated on all things Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days anyway, so keep checking back, and in the meantime, check out a handful of new screens direct from the New Zealand-based studio in our carousel below.
