Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Launch Multiplayer Details Revealed

Treyarch spills the beans on what to expect from Black Ops 6’s multiplayer at launch. And… it’s a lot!

Activision and Treyarch have revealed key new details for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 ahead of the game’s launch on October 25, with an extensive breakdown of what you can look forward to in the multiplayer camp (and there’s A LOT), which includes all maps, modes (Standard and Alternate), Zombies info (more incoming soon, too), updated Theatre deets, Factions and Operator intel and so much more. But before we get to it all, have a look at the original MP trailer:

It’s a very, very extensive run-down which you can read in full from the Call of Duty blog, but from an overview perspective here’s a basic, basic breakdown.

At launch there will be 16 maps to tackle across multiple modes. Standard modes will include staples Team Deathmatch (6v6), Domination (6v6), Search & Destroy (6v6), Kill Confirmed (6v6), Free-For-All (8), Hardpoint (6v6), Gunfight (2v2 and our fave), Headquarters (6v6), Kill Order (6v6) and Control (6v6). Alternate modes will feature Face Off Domination (6v6 and Scorestreak disabled), Face Off Deathmatch (6v6 and Scorestreaks disabled), Face Off Kill Order (6v6 and Scorestreaks disabled) and Face Off Kill Confirmed (6v6 and Scorestreaks disabled).

In addition, certain playlists will feature Hardcore mode which enables friendly fire, limits your HUD and lowers your health a bunch. Of the playlists Hardcore mode can appear, it’s playable across Team Deathmatch, Kill Order, Domination, Hardpoint, Search and Destroy, Kill Confirmed, Free-For-All and Face Off Moshpit.

Ahead of skirmishes players can also take on the game’s Training Course to practise Black Ops 6’s touted “Omnimovement”. The Training Course is a part of the regular multiplayer map, Protocol. You can also jump into the Firing Range which makes a return with more robust reporting and scoring systems to help you become the sharpshooter you simply know you can be.

Theatre Mode (not available on previous gen consoles) is also available at launch and for the first time in the game’s new engine. Here’s what the blog has to say about what you can expect:

  • Switch between First-Person, Third-Person, and Fly-Cam perspectives for all players in the match.
  • Elimination and Deaths are visualised on the timeline. Easily skip to the viewed player’s next Elimination on the timeline.
  • Fast-Forward, Rewind, and full playback speed control.
  • Press "Record" to Trigger an Xbox or PlayStation recording while in Theater Mode.
  • All Theater files expire after seven days or when a game update is released.
All 16 maps are detailed in the aforementioned blog, along with extensive deets on the Operators and Factions which we recommend you go and check out. And all of the above and even what’s in that blog link when you go isn’t everything, with the team promising more intel in the coming days leading up to launch, so keep your eyes peeled.
