X-Men '97 Season 2 is Coming this July and Gave us Serious Chills

By way of its trailer, that is!

If you grew up in the 90s chances are you caught the groundbreaking X-Men cartoon on a classic Saturday morning. Deep into comic book collecting then, this writer was obsessed with this 'mature' delivery of my beloved X-Men in animated form in between the usual suspects like Ren & Stimpy and the criminally underrated Eek the Cat, as well as many others. But it was X-Men back then that stole the show.

Fast forward to true adulthood and tickle all of us surprised when Marvel Animation and Disney+ dropped, seemingly out of nowhere, X-Men '97 a 'proper' mature delivery and reimagining of those cartoons from yesteryear for the likes of me and millions of others. And it was fantastic -- nostalgia and modernity wrapped in one slick, throwback product.

Now that series is coming back with a freshly-announced Season 2 and we've got the scintillating trailer for you to gawk at below.

Here's some official wording from the powers that be setting up your new favourite date this year, July 1:

X-Men '97 Season 2 continues with the heroic mutant team of X-Men, divided and thrown across different eras in time as they struggle to navigate their return home. Meanwhile, back in the 1990s, suspicious foes and new strains of mutant intolerance are on the rise in the wake of the X-Men's absence. The second season of the original animated series features 9 episodes, and the voice cast includes Ross Marquand as Professor X, Matthew Waterson as Magneto, Ray Chase as Cyclops, Jennifer Hale as Jean Grey, Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm, Cal Dodd as Wolverine, Lenore Zann as Rogue and Geaorge Buza as Beast.

In addition to the awesome trailer above and the tickling of this playing with the Days of Future Past storyline from the grand old days of Chris Claremont's rein as King X-Men writer, Disney also shared the below poster for Season 2 which is, honestly, amazing.

X-Men '97 will air exclusively on Disney+ from July 1.
