Netflix Relocates the Robots this March to The Electric State

Honestly, this could go either way, but we're hoping it's a straight-up banger...

It's a bit of a lite-on month in March for Netflix where the more fantastical of pop culture offerings are concerned, but there's one little ditty coming that you may not be across. The Electric State is a retro-future flick that imagines a robot revolt in the 90s that leads to the full relocation (and in effect, incarceration) of all robot kind to the so-called and titular "Electric State".

Check out the arrest footage below:

Directed by the Russo brothers (Captain America: The Winter SoldierAvengers: Endgame), this *sort of* dystopian spin on rogue AI and rebellious robots pulls together an all-star cast featuring Millie Bobby Brown, Chris Pratt and Everything Everywhere All at Once's Ke Huy Quan alongside the likes of Brian CoxWoody HarrelsonHank AzariaJason Alexander and Giancarlo Esposito among many others which might tell us we can expect something... well, unexpected. Or at least, a bit unique, especially from a tonal perspective.

You don't have to wait long, either. March 14 is when the flick drops for Aussies and we kind of can't wait. At the very least the visuals look pretty decent for the type of movie it is, and we can surely expect even half of the ensemble cast to fire in some capacity with an equally (and hopeful) off-the-wall delivery and presentation. Based on the book by Simon Stålenhag, The Electric State ought to be a visual tour de force given its source material also lent into some fairly incredible art which more or less drove the story rather than the other way around.

Check out a handful of other stills from the project in our carousel below.
