New Cast Members for Prime’s Tomb Raider Series Revealed

The queen of sci-fi joins the character queen of archaeology among many other notable names and faces for Amazon MGM Studios’ videogame adaptation

We’ve known for a while that Sophie Turner was playing the tomb-raiding scholar, Lara Croft, in Prime’s upcoming Tomb Raider series, but today Amazon MGM Studios lifted the lid on who would be joining her and series creator, writer and co-showrunner, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and chief among them is none other than Sigourney Weaver. Alongside Weaver who will play Evelyn Wallis, fans can look forward to Jason Isaacs who will be playing Atlas DeMornay -- Lara’s uncle.

Other cast members and characters announced include Martin Bobb-Semple as Zip and Bill Paterson as Winston -- both of whom come from the game universe side of things. Additional characters pulled from the “Tomb Raider universe” include Lara’s personal pilot Gerry as played by Jack Bannon, “exhausted government official” David as played by John Heffernan, “Head of Advancement at the British Museum” Francine as played by Celia Imrie, “senior government official” Thomas Warner as played by Paterson Joseph, Sasha as played by Sasha Luss (an apparent rival of Lara’s), fellow British Museum employee Georgia as played by Juliette Motamed, and “illegal raider” Lukas as played by August Wittgenstein.

While details on the show and its structure, timeline or even setting are scarce, fans can rest easy in knowing current franchise and IP curators, Crystal Dynamics, are involved and that Prime seems intent on honouring the videogame roots of the character first and foremost.

Stay tuned for more as we have it, but for now it’s just great to see a legend like Sigourney Weaver joining the ranks.
