Jentry Chau vs the Underworld's New Official Trailer Looks... Fire! (Sorry Not Sorry)
A bit cheesy, we know, but also couldn't resist. Say what you want about the series' obvious teen-focused setting, its Chinese mythology and folklore elements, alongside its awesome animation style, have us pretty ready to deal with the "who kissed who?!" drama of it all.
Have a look at the flame(s):
With an all-star cast and some seemingly pretty cool (and kooky) characters, and all part of the "vs the World"... err, world, this is shaping up to be all sorts of Scott Pilgrim meets Samurai Jack meets Dandadan becomes its own very awesome thing.
While the trailer obviously gives us plenty, there's some cool stuff we also dug up, which includes but isn't limited to:
- Protagonist, Jentry Chau, is a Chinese-American 16-year-old living in a small town in Texas
- She has ancient powers that a demon king wants to steal from her
- Amidst demonic confrontation, she also tries to navigate prototypical teen life in said small town at an equally small school where gossip is seemingly very large (and maybe even more horrible than the actual demons)
- This is an expansion of the Scott Pilgrim Takes Off animated series, though also looks quite standalone-ish
- There will be 13 episodes in Season One (no confirmation yet of a Season Two)
This is one we can't wait for and certainly a strong step in the direction of continuing to expand the "vs the..." mediaverse.
