Do the Game is a Serious Docu-Reality Series About Videogame Development
As an aside to what we were given access to during our hands-on and interview time with 10 Chambers at a recent preview event for its upcoming Den of Wolves heist title, the studio also dropped one other nugget on us. It has been working on a docu-reality series, of the serious proportion, not just about development of Den of Wolves, but of game development itself, pitfalls, tears and tantrums included.
“With our previous success of GTFO and now working on a major title like Den of Wolves, it might seem glamorous," says Oscar J-T Holm, Co-Founder at 10 Chambers via press release. "However, growing a company while building a game can be incredibly stressful and create tension even between longtime friends. Through this docu-reality series, we aim to provide a brutally honest look behind the scenes of all this.”
We got, not just a glimpse of this, which you can view for yourself emebedded below, but spent time with the studio and its members who all doubled down on the representation of this whole thing, and then some. Our experience througout the whole Den of Wolves preview event was nothing but honest and candid -- and attainable -- from a perspective of receiving all of the above without spin or marketing, so this project is pretty exciting on the whole. Have a looksee here:
When you work in this industry long enough and know devs and studios and studio heads and even PRs and marketing teams that work closely enough with it all, it's easy to accept it all as normal. But it's not. And the average punter doesn't tend to have said access, so this passion project that is also as forward-thinking as they come, but also very raw, is unique. The hope is that one of the key streaming services picks it up and that other studios with equally unique stories to tell see it as a means to either express the stresses and realities of game development even more, or just want to share the process as it stands, albeit from a different perspective.
We'll keep you updated, but for now, Subscribe to the 10 Chambers YT page and keep an eye out. Oh, and be vocal. This sort of thing is exactly what our industry needs to showcase just how hard it is.
Also, check out a handful of stills from the series, which has been shot in full, in our carousel below.
