Alien: Earth Officially Renewed for Season 2

You win again gravity!

In news that should come as no surprise to anyone who watched all of the debut season, Alien: Earth has now officially been renoewed for an obvious Season 2.

How obvious was it? So obvious that we wrote our in-depth S1 post mortem on an absolute assumption Noah Hawley and co would be hatching, gestating and metamorphosising new ideas before you could say "Kirsh vs Morrow: Round 2 -- the WD40 Grudge Match".

Not only has the series been renewed, but Disney has quickly locked Hawley away on an overall deal, tying him to the company and this series in an agreement said to be in the nine-figures range, according to Deadline. Such locked-in scenarios are fairly common among the larger companies these days, with the likes of Adam Sandler and Guillermo del Toro tied to Netflix, Ben Stiller and Tom Hanks to Apple TV and Donald Glover and Robert Kirkman to Amazon/Prime.

According to multiple news outlets, production has already shifted from Thailand where most of S1 was shot to London (home of the original two films via the famous Pinewood Studios) which already suggests our time on Boy Kavalier's island location will be well and truly behind us and moving into (hopefully), more populated locations around the globe.

You can hit the link above for our own feature to posit just some of what could be in store for Season 2, but just knowing it's happening is more than enough, especially in the wake of the slightly more 'family' oriented Predator: Badlands -- nothing wrong with bombastic sci-fi cinema, but the nuanced horror elements of Alien: Earth really scratched a specific itch.

Stay tuned for more from us from a bespoke feature perspective, and any pertinent news worth sharing on this, one of our now favourite shows on streaming.
