Before S4 Even Airs, Invincible S5 Has Been Greenlit

Mark, Eve, Omni-Man and co will return in another season of Invincible signalling a huge (and continued) win for the world of adult animation. Now, if only some higher-up could reconsider the cancellation of Scavenger's Reign...

The renewal honestly comes as no surprise. While the rest of the media landscape -- and the all-consuming masses -- navigate superhero fatigue, Prime Video's original animated superhero series, Invincible, continues to net strong viewerships and engagement thanks to a concoction of great writing, excellent performances, amazing animation and a now always expected 'wow factor'. So much so, Invincible is one of the streaming services most popular entites with Season Three coming in as Prime Video's "most watched" animation series of all time.

Season Four of the popular and bloody superhero opus is yet to air, currently scheduled for February 2026, but that hasn't halted the IP's momentum with Prime Video, Skybound Entertainment and Amazon MGM Studios announcing that a fifth season was underway. Not only is this great news for fans, but for the writers too, assuming they now have the breathing room to fulfil narrative visions and not rush through arcs, of which Invincible is full of.

Keen observers of the comics suggest the fifth season could spark the "Great Resurgence" as well as the storyline "The Death of Everyone" which will be the final battle between Mark and Dinosaurus. Of course, as mentioned above, there are myriad storylines, arcs and even character-specific stories -- past and present -- to be explored yet, leaving room for the animated series to splinter from the books which, frankly, we hope the writing and production team does. Largely because there's little value in simply recreating pre-existing storylines in something with motion and a finite timeline, from a reader/viewer perspective.

Even new characters written just for the animated series would be welcome, so strong is the writing throughout, but that will remain to be seen. Whichever way S5 ends up rolling, however, it's fantastic to know well be seeing more and more of Invincible and the series' diverse and complex range of characters for a few years yet.

Stay tuned for more as we have it from Prime Video and anywhere else we can scrounge for info!
