Left 4 Dead Meets Dying Light Meets The Running Man

But the query is, is The Midnight Walkers the real deal?

There's a lot going on in the world of games and hype. Particularly where AI is concerned. Certain games and announcements are being questioned constantly, especially if the studio behind it is... fledgling. Still, we couldn't help but be a little bit intrigued by what upstart developer, One Way Ticket Studio, was peddling with its The Midnight Walkers offering -- a seemingly full-on zombie experience clearly influenced by some of the best, with the potential for a twist. And the studio's most recent 'cinematic' trailer, while still giving us pause, is till pretty enticing.

Have a look...

What we have here is a "zombie extraction" experience influenced by the likes of Dying Light 1 & 2, Call of Duty: Zombies, Left 4 Dead, DayZ and even, maybe, a bit of Dead Rising. All great games, mind, but it's the other pop culture element(s) that has us most intrigued, namely The Running Man. Or, for the younger peeps out there, The Hunger Games and other dystopian 'game showey' properties of that ilk.

Don't get us wrong, we have tonnes of questions around this, but from what the studio has actually released thus far, there is potential here, it's just harder to trust CG trailers in this day and age over actual gameplay.

Fight, scavenge, and extract in The Midnight Walkers, a hardcore FPS game with deadly zombies, dangerous players, and valuable loot. Craft weapons, armour, and consumables; trade items; and maintain your hideout. Escape Liberty Grand Center mega complex, and thrive... or die and lose everything.

Interestingly, this is also scheduled to release late in the year, so we're hoping to see some more substantial elements soon, but paint us with zombie-coloured blood as intrigued. Wishlist it in the meantime and stay tuned for more.
