Echoes of the End Hits PlayStation Plus, New Update and Content in-Bound
PlayStation Plus subscribers get a free taste of the world of Aema in the debut title from Icelandic studio, Myrkur Games, Echoes of the End (<- our full review). Alongside its newfound access to additional players, the game itself has also been updated with a quality of life spread of fixes, as well as the addition of a much-needed Photo Mode to showcase the game's world we said looked "always stunning" in the above-linked review. New content comes in the form of Valentine's themed outfits for the game's main characters Ryn and Abram.
The above comes in addition to a late-year update in 2025 that enhanced overall performance as well as animations, pacing and more meaning now is likely the best time to jump into the world of Aema, especially if you're a subscriber because then, you know, it's free to grab.
Here's an excerpt from our review:
Ryn is brilliantly portrayed by Aldís Amah Hamilton who offers her avatar a tough and walled-up exterior that is easily relatable. Naturally, inside she is a different and oft conflicted person and the two sides to her manifest and coalesce brilliantly as Echoes’ tale unfolds. She’s joined by the wise and actually very supportive Abram, a colleague of her late father who also takes on a bit of a patriarchal role to help Ryn unpack that inner-self. The writing is brilliant, but not overly dynamic. This is where its “cinematic” self shines, but it’s also one last part of its very linear self.
We genuinely love seeing new games being supported so passionately in a post-release environment where the community also has a say on proceedings, which is what appears to be happening here. We also have no doubt this franchise-in-waiting has a bright future as the team listens, shapes and reshapes its game-universe towards bigger and better things.
