"City Unbound" is a New Developer Diary Series for Frostpunk 2

The Upcoming Sequel, Though Delayed by a Few Months, is Shaping up to be One of the Year's Most Ambitious...

The brilliant Frostpunk is set for a huge sequel out this September 20, and as we close in on having to build and survive as we keep humanity alive, the game's developer, 11 Bit Studios, has put together a developer diary series titled "City Unbound". Kicking off overnight, the first episode is a basic introduction to the expanded world of the game that didn't really reveal too much more than has already been revealed.

Check it out:

In terms of what we do know, the sequel takes place some 30 years after "The Great Storm" where the Captain from the first game has died and the city itself is splintering into factions no longer happy under single leadership. You, the player, take up the mantle of Steward of the metropolis and must navigate your way through said factions and their myriad designs for the city that aren't always in the best interest of everyone. The formation of a Council thrusts these splintered ideologies into the fore and often against each other, with at times violent ends.

As you can see from the developer diary above and our screenshot carousel below, the game is stunning and was built on Unreal 5 for PC, and features an even more expansive build set which should ensure tons of playtime for those willing to thrust humanity into its own brink, once more. This time, however, as the studio has said, it's no longer nature we're fighting against, but rather human nature.

Wishlist the game on Steam here.
