Steam Deck Finally Adds Australia to its List of Retail Locations

So, what's the first game from your Steam library you're gonna play on the dunny?

After what has felt like aeons, Valve's coveted Steam Deck is finally launching in Australia in an official capacity, meaning punters need no longer find cheeky workarounds to get their favourite PC library in an on-the-go playable capacity.

The announcement took place the morning of PAX Aus day one as eager PAX goers watched a countdown video while waiting for doors to open, with the news coinciding with the event's official starting time. Oh those sneaky Valve people!

Australia now joins North America, Europe, Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea and Taiwan as official Steam Deck regions. If you're not entirely across the handheld phenomenon, head over to Steam Deck's official site for all the deets, but as far as pricing and availability in Australia, here's what's happening in November when the device becomes available for purchase (no official date or time yet, just the month):

  • 256GB LCD model - $649.00 AUD
  • 512GB OLED model - $899.00 AUD
  • 1TB OLED model - $1049.00 AUD

Not a bad way to kick off Australia's largest celebration of games and tech and pop culture, and while we might be late to the party, at least we finally got the invite (must have been initially lost in the mail, eh Valve?).

We'll have more on the Steam Deck in the lead up to its release and beyond, so keep checking back for more.
