Philips' Evnia QD OLED Slated to Hit Aussie Stores Late October

Curved for your gaming, working or multimedia pleasure

Ultra and SuperWide is the new norm in gaming monitors, so that Philips is releasing the Evnia 49M2C8900 QD OLED isn't surprising, however, the tech giant is angling the monitor as "perfect for working, gaming and multimedia projects". Not that any modern monitor can't do all of those things, but it is a clever move to angle less gaming-specific to reach new adopters or those looking to upgrade who maybe don't necessarily care that much about its 240Hz refresh rates.

The monitor delivers cutting-edge technology such as a QD OLED display that guarantees high contrast and unlimited viewing angles, with higher peak brightness and more vibrant colours; 32:9 Curved SuperWide screen designed for a pleasant yet subtle immersion effect; and exclusive Ambiglow feature that adds a new dimension to the viewing experience.

Certified with VESA DisplayHDR™ True Black 400 and VESA ClearMR 13000, the monitor boasts accurate shadow detail with deeper blacks and less overall blur. The true 10-bit display also ensures exceptional colour accuracy and smoother gradients.

The Evnia 49M2C8900 delivers these stunning display features without sacrificing smooth gameplay, with an ultra-fast 240 Hz refresh rate and NVIDIA® G-SYNC® compatibility. This translates to a lag-free gaming experience and reduced screen tearing.

The innovative Ambiglow technology creates a halo of light that matches the image coming from the monitor, which elevates users' gaming experience, whilst the LowBlue Mode and Flicker-free technology reduces eye strain so users can spend longer hours in front of the screen with minimal fatigue.

There is a decently heavy price attached to it though, coming in at an SRP of $2,199 which, against other established monitors might give you cause for concern, but when you factor in that some of those other monitors only offer 144Hz compared to the Evnia's 240Hz, the disparity suddenly becomes a bit more meaningful and a lot less frightening. And at that level, you're future-proofing competitively anyway.
