Fallout Day Broadcast from Bethesda Confirms Fallout 76 Roadmap for 2024 and Beyond

Pets, playable Ghouls, and a hardcore MMO-style raid with a massive boss are coming to Fallout 76...

In Fallout lore, October 23 represents the day the Great War started (and ended) in the not-so-warm embrace of nuclear fire. Thankfully, the series’ post-apocalyptic wasteland continues to be one of the most fun interactive worlds to explore and eat irradiated squirrel meat in.

As part of Bethesda’s first Fallout Day Broadcast, celebrating all things Fallout, the studio outlined what’s on the cards for Fallout 76 -- which is currently free to play this weekend, ending on October 29. Sadly, there was no word on Fallout 5, but what’s coming to Fallout’s premiere multiplayer game sounds tasty.

As a game that has been out for several years, veteran players (myself included) will be pleased to learn that the game’s upcoming Gleaming Depths dungeon is a traditional MMO-style challenge designed for a squad of high-level players rocking high-level gear. Set in an abandoned underground Enclave research lab, the final boss -- the Ultracite Terror -- looks like a giant snake.

Tunnel Snakes Rule.

Elsewhere, Bethesda confirmed that ‘4 Star Legendaries’ are coming to the game, offering players another tier of loot to chase. And, not to bury the lead, Fallout 76 is finally getting C.A.M.P. pets -- starting with a cat and a dog.

Looking further into 2025, you can play as a Ghoul in Fallout 76. One of the benefits of becoming a Ghoul is not having to worry about radiation or even hunger or thirst. But you will have to keep an eye on and manage your Feral meter so that you can stay frosty.

It sounds like Bethesda is spending the time to integrate playable Ghouls into the world correctly, as factions like the Brotherhood of Steel will not be your friends, and there’ll also be Ghoul-specific Perks and abilities.

Stay tuned for more as it comes in, but everythig above is reason enough to either be excited, or to jump back in if you've abandoned the 76 wasteland in recent times.
